The American Craftsman style

The American Craftsman Style, or the American Arts and Crafts Movement, is an American domestic architectural, interior design, and decorative arts style popular from the last years of the 19th century through the early years of the 20th century. As a design movement, its popularity remained strong until the 1930s, although in the decorative arts it continues to experience numerous revivals until the present day.

Style, convenience, simplicity

these are the hallmarks of the Bungalow architectural movement which took America by storm from roughly 1880-1930. With original price tags as reasonable as $900, these single story or story-and-a-half homes launched a revolution in the architectural world because they afforded the average homeowner an opportunity to partner practicality and economy with a level of serious artistic design that typically was available only to the wealthy. These houses came to symbolize more than just a place to sleep; they became tangible realizations of the American dream.

Our little piece of design history was constructed in 1924 and has been lovingly restored, featuring most all of its simple original woodwork and the home’s original layout. The Inn is graciously furnished with a variety of period pieces, all representative of what might have decorated a home at the time of construction. We pair this with the conveniences and comforts of fully-furnished guest rooms, full baths and top of the line bedding and bath linens. Our goal, much like that of the Bungalow’s architectural fathers is to provide a place to enjoy private simple lodging at a reasonable cost. Welcome to the Hudson Bungalow; welcome to style, convenience and simplicity.
